Yielding means inner acceptance of what is. You are open to life. Resistance is an inner contraction, a hardening of the ego. You are closed. Whatever action you take in a state of inner resistance (which we could also call negativity) will create more outer resistance, and the universe will not be on your side; life will not be helpful. If the shutters are closed, the sunlight cannot come in. When you yield internally, when you surrender, a new dimension of consciousness opens up. If action is possible or necessary, your action will be in alignment with the whole and supported by creative intelligence, the unconditioned consciousness which in a state of inner openness you become one with.

Circumstances and people then become helpful, cooperative. Coincidences happen. If no action is possible, you rest in the peace and inner stillnes that come with surrender. you rest in God.

Good for me

What a great opportunity for me to let go of ego. James has been reminding me for weeks that I need to put ego aside. Our company has reached a slow spell that is requiring us to tighten our belts. (there's a weight-loss plan). Our family will probably sell a car or two and I realize just how much I judge my self-worth based on my possessions--the car I drive, my financial success, my image...

Mark, thanks for the few minutes this evening. I learn so much from visiting with you. You just passed a very tough time in your life, and you came out of it smelling like a rose!

I thank God for every miracle of every day! When I focus on the true miracles of every breath I breathe, then I know that everything will be ok. So, "good for me."

A big snack for the ego is our willingness to take things personal--compliments as well as negative comments. When we learn to take nothing personal we free ourselves from being anything but who we want to be--we become as a little child.

Give up defining yourself

"Give up defining yourself--to yourself or to others. You won't die. You will come to life. And dont' be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it's their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don't be there primarily as a function or a role, but as a field of conscious Presence."

From "A New Earth" page 109.

Well Sue,
You've been a member of this blog for a couple weeks, and still no post. Maybe it's too hard on the ole "ego." (grin)
I would think you learned a bundle at the Salt Lake classes you attended, that you could share with us.

Life changing information

I have read about a third of this book and have found some remarkable concepts, however my big life changing experience was listening to a seminar Wayne Dyer had called "It's Never Crowded Along The Extra Mile". I have found that as soon as I get given a concept, then I also get a trial to show how much I have applied it into my life. But also I have found that when the pupil is ready the teacher will come.
I have had a lot of people try to interest me in these life-changing seminars such as the Forum, Journey, etc. however, I wonder if my path is to learn line upon line and not in big lumps like that.
Anyway, I am excited to see where this blog goes and look forward to other posts.

Is Ego in your toolbox?
Here are a few areas to review; ask ourselves:

  • Do I take corrections, criticism well? Is it fun?
  • How about false accusations, blames? Do they matter to me? Do I need to "Set the record straight"?
  • How I dress: Here's an entire topic for discussion
  • Makeup?
  • My weight. Could I post it on my bumper sticker? Do I try to hide it? why?
  • Do movie stars have something to teach us? Have they let go of caring what the world sees and thinks of them? I know Jim Carey has. (I see zero ego in his toolbox)
  • Do I argue? Do I need to win the argument? Can I let others be right? Can I announce often, "I was wrong"?
  • Do I play games for power over others? ... over my family?
  • Do I worry about my children embarrassing me?
    Please add to this list.
